Joel Embiid and Anne de Paula married in a grand ceremony in Southampton, New York, on July 22, 2023. The couple met at a 2018 dinner in New York City and initially were friends who FaceTimed daily before becoming romantically involved. They welcomed their first child, Arthur Elijah, in September 2020.
Anne de Paula, a Brazilian model born in Rio de Janeiro on March 31, 1995, grew up on the beach and initially aspired to a career in medicine. However, her modeling career took off, and she later became a swimsuit model for Sports Illustrated. Fluent in French, English, and Portuguese, de Paula is also a Muay Thai practitioner and has a love for cooking, with truffle pasta being her go-to dish.
The couple shares a passion for adventure and has traveled to various destinations worldwide. Anne de Paula supports Joel Embiid in his basketball career, and they share a strong bond with their son, Arthur Elijah, born in 2020. Arthur is named after Joel’s younger brother, who tragically passed away in a car crash in Cameroon in 2014.
