Chris discussed the influence of his father, Charles, on his approach to parenting in 2022. He spoke on how much he still values his father’s approval and how Charles encouraged him to shower his children with “the most amount of love that you could show.”

In 2022, the point guard wrote Basketball Dreams, his second children’s book, after being inspired by his father. He later shared photographs of himself reading the book with his son. “Papa Chilly inspired me at an early age with lessons I’ve carried all my life,” writes the author. Christopher Emmanuel Paul II, the eldest child of Chris and Jada, was born on May 25, 2009.

Even as a young boy, Chris Jr. frequently accompanied his father to news appearances. With his son perched on his lap, Chris filmed an NBA game in 2012 in which Blake Griffin of the Los Angeles Clippers performs “The Blake Face.” At the age of two, Chris Jr. joyfully imitated Griffin’s stern attitude throughout the middle of the game.

Chris Jr. is carrying on his father’s work as he enters puberty. In 2018, the Phoenix Suns player spoke to ThePostGame on the important lesson of loving one’s children and how it translates into a lifelong commitment to their happiness. One way he showed his support was by “getting up early in the morning” to watch the World Cup with his son. He shared, “I’ve actually grown to love it a lot more and learned everything about it.”

Chris Jr. had a sneaker-themed birthday bash in 2022 when he turned thirteen. The adolescent was seen playing basketball and rejoicing with friends in the images posted by his father.
