In the first game of their respective seasons, the Boston Celtics defeated the New York Knicks 108-104 on Wednesday night. Jayson Tatum had 34 points and 11 rebounds, and Kristaps Porzingis sank a game-winning 3-pointer with 1:29 remaining to cap off a fantastic debut for the club.

After acquiring Jrue Holiday and the 7-foot-3 center in the offseason, Porzingis’ new squad is regarded as one of the NBA Finals favorites. Porzingis concluded the game with eight rebounds and four blocked shots against his former NBA team.

While rehabbing from an ACL tear, Porzingis, who was the No. 4 pick by the Knicks in 2015 and an All-Star in 2017–18, lost interest in the team. During the 2018–19 season, he was traded.
