According to Foot Mercato, Kylian Mbappe reached an agreement with Los Blancos earlier in the week, and he will join Real Madrid for the upcoming season.

Mbappe and Real Madrid have been embroiled in transfer sagas over the past two summers, and all signs have pointed to a spectacular move for both parties. Real, though, looked embarrassed both times.

Therefore, when talking about a possible transfer with Mbappe—whose contract expires at the end of the current campaign—Real Madrid was keen to avoid suffering a third loss.

After declining to prolong his time at Paris Saint-Germain, Mbappe reportedly came to an arrangement with Real Madrid a few days ago and pledged his future to the La Liga powerhouse.

Reports, however, claim that the 25-year-old superstar was offered a better pay deal by the Spanish powerhouses during discussions in 2022.

The last two summers have seen Mbappe and Real involved in transfer sagas, with all things seemingly pointing towards a move on both occasions. However, Real were left red-faced

Mbappe had formally entered the final six months of his PSG contract, which gave him the freedom to talk with other teams starting on January 1. Real Madrid consequently started talks with the 25-year-old shortly after.

But according to a report in Le Parisien, Liverpool was ‘the most credible and dangerous choice’ for PSG, who clearly wanted him to stay longer.

Le Parisien continued by implying that Liverpool saw Mbappe as the kind of marquee acquisition they would require to stay up with Manchester City in the future.

When Mbappe’s mother Fayza Lamari once again became his agent, the transfer story for the 25-year-old took a new turn. It was said that she was actively participating in any negotiations that were taking place behind closed doors.

FIFA’s new agent restrictions meant that Lamari was no longer representing her kid, according to a report published in the Spanish newspaper Marca back in October. However, since then, the rules have “loosened,” enabling her to regain control over her Mbappe.

It is within his contract, and he alone has the authority to activate it, for Mbappe to remain at PSG until 2025. But it seems like Real Madrid is the more alluring choice for the budding talent. In addition to being the club’s primary source of revenue, the recently refurbished Santiago Bernabeu is part of the worldwide posturing to place themselves ahead of nouveau riche Saudi Arabian and Qatari-owned clubs.Mbappe may have the same mindset as England international Jude Bellingham since he too wants to win both team and individual trophies.  Even though he would have made more money at Manchester City, Bellingham acknowledged that Real Madrid’s reputation—built on 14 Champions League victories and a record 35 La Liga titles—was a major reason why he joined the team in the summer. After PSG’s triumph over Toulouse FC, Mbappe insisted that he still hadn’t decided what to do with his career. He had, in fact, secured a deal to join Real Madrid at the end of the season, according to Foot Mercato.

After scored 25 goals in 24 games thus far, Mbappe will be hoping to end the current campaign on a high note. On Sunday, he registered a hat-trick as his team defeated Revel, a sixth-tier team, 9-0 in the French Cup. In his six and a half years at Paris Saint-Germain, Mbappe has also scored 237 goals, making him a valuable asset that will be sorely missed on the field.
