Tottenham star Richarlison has ‘been a joke’ and is the ‘flop of the season’.

The Tottenham forward made the switch to north London from Everton for a deal worth around £60million.

However, Richarlison has failed to make an impact since he joined the side, scoring just three goals throughout his debut campaign.

Appearances in the starting XI have also been limited for the 26-year-old, and Gabby Agbonlahor believes he’s been the worst player this season.

Speaking to former Spurs star Jamie O’Hara on the GameDay Phone-In, the talkSPORT host said: “You look at Richarlison, how many chances is he going to have? For me he’s the flop of the season.

“He’s going to cost Spurs £60million, three goals in 33 games in all competitions. A goal every ten games, one goal in 25 Premier League games, one goal since September.

“Substituted again today 59 minutes, you were a better team when he came off, flop of the season.”

He then referred to Richarlison’s celebration, which he has previously criticised, re-enacting it and saying: “No pigeon dancing is there this week? All this nonsense.”

Richarlison started in Spurs’ 2-1 defeat away defeat to Aston Villa, but was substituted off for Dejan Kulusevski just after the hour mark.

When speaking on Sunday Sports Breakfast the following morning, talkSPORT’s Tony Cascarino revealed how he has also been left disappointed by the forward.

“If you said to me, the worst player this season, the worst player for what he’s got, Richarlison. He’s been a joke this year. I don’t care if he’s been injured or gone away to the World Cup, yesterday he hardly tried a leg, he really looked disinterested.

“I know that obviously Antonio Conte pulled him out about his performances, or a bit about he’s not played well.

“I played poorly in my career, but there’s one thing a lack of endeavour and effort and playing badly, I can’t believe… Richarlison was the player last year that I felt was responsible as anybody for keeping Everton up, his performances at the end of last season. He hasn’t shown any of that at Spurs.”

He added: “You can play poorly, that happens to footballers, many of us have been there, you have poor times.

“But he looks like to me, he’s had a great move, he was at a very good football club in Everton, then they get a £60million offer in for him, Tottenham have gone after someone to really put pressure on their front three.

“Has he anytime this season put any pressure on their front three to have a starting spot in the team? I’d say no, he’s been hugely disappointing Richarlison.”

His last goal for the club came in their 4-3 defeat away at Liverpool earlier in the month.

Richarlison believed he had scored a late equaliser, his first Premier League goal for Spurs, but Diogo Jota netted just moments after to make his celebrations short-lived.

Fans will be hoping he can prove his worth in the final weeks of the season, with Ryan Mason’s side 6th in the table with two games to play.
