The bird known as garpet pitta (scientific name: Erythropitta granatina) belongs to the Pittidae family. It is a sturdy bird of medium size, measuring around 15-25cm in length, including its short tail. These birds have a ᴜпіqᴜe appearance with their purple-blue and garnet-red feathers complemented by shimmering blue wing coverts and a bright red crown.
